Learning through Play- Polar Regions
Polar Regions
We had great fun in January. We learned all about the Arctic and Antractica. We read lots of stories about the animals that live in these places and we also learned about the Inuits.
In our Role Play area, we pretended that the tent was an igloo. We made fires out of Lego, fishing rods out of string and blocks and binoculars out of toilet roll inserts. It was so much fun.
We had to make snow out of conditioner and baking soda for our small world area. We had lots of fun playing with the different polar animals and solving all of their problems.
For construction we bought in lots of cardboard boxes. We made ourselves igloos. We even made TVs and couches out of boxes so we’d be nice and comfortable.
We made eskimos, snowflakes and even snowmobiles in our play dough area.
We loved this theme.
